Anxiety

Lavender (botanical name; Lavendula officinalis) is just one of many herbs that may help with anxiety. It is an anxiolytic and a carminative herb and is known for its soothing and calming effect on the nervous system. It is known as the relaxing herb and mixes well with other anxiolytic herbs to make a beautiful herbal formula.

Depression

St John’s Wort (botanical name; Hypericum perforatum) is a beautiful herb and one of many that may help with mild depression, nervous tension, stress and anxiety. Its antidepressant actions may help to alleviate mild depression. As a nervine tonic it may help to relax and energise the nervous system. It can be taken in tablet form or can be mixed with other herbs to make a beautiful formula.

Menstrual/Menopause

Chaste Tree (botanical name; Vitex agnus castus) is one of many herbs that may help to maintain a normal menstrual cycle when irregularities occur and may help to relieve PMS and PMS like symptoms associated with menopause. It can be taken in tablet form or can be mixed with other herbs to make a beautiful formula.

Rhodiola

Rhodiola (botanical name; Rhodiola rosea) is an adaptogenic, antioxidant and a tonic herb. It is a great herb and may help you in times of physical stress, fatigue, improve mental performance, concentration and memory especially when under stress. It is a great herb for supporting the adrenals and may help in failure to thrive times. It mixes well with many herbs to make a super formula.

Schisandra

Schisandra (botanical name; Schisandra chinensis) is an adaptogenic, a nervine tonic and an antioxidant herb like Rhodiola. It may also help to support liver function, physical stress, fatigue, debility, mental performance and concentration. Its adaptogenic properties help the body to adapt to stress. This herb mixes really well with Rhodiola to make a super formula along with Withania. Great for increasing zest for life!

Withania

Withania (botanical name; Withania somnifera) is an adaptogenic, a tonic, immune modulating and antianaemic herb. It is great in times of physical stress, fatigue, failure to thrive, anaemia and convalescence. Mixed with Schisandra and Rhodiola it makes a super formula to support the adrenals. It’s great for giving you the lift that you may need in times of stress.

About me

My name is Bridget Wardman, I am originally from the UK but have been an Australian Citizen for several years now. I am a fully qualified Western Herbal Medicine Practitioner and have studied with ACNT (Australasian College of Natural Therapies). I have an Advanced Diploma in Western Herbal Medicine and I am a member of the NHAA (Naturopaths & Herbalist Association of Australia), membership no. 155950.

There is a growing demand for complementary and alternative medicine in Australia and I believe this is the way forward. People are turning more and more towards this and are trying to become a healthier nation through a more natural lifestyle. Statistics show that one in three Australians use or turn to complementary and alternative medicine.

Medicinal plants have been used for their pain relieving and healing abilities for centuries and have enhanced the quality of life of the human race by overcoming illness and suffering. Herbal medicine may help to treat certain diseases, ailments and conditions and may also help to alleviate symptoms.

Services

As a Herbal Medicine Practitioner I provide 60 minute initial consultations and 30 minute subsequent and follow up consultations. I prescribe and supply practitioner only herbal medicine and products including brands such as Mediherb and Metagenics.

Some health fund rebates are available I have provider numbers for Medibank Private, NIB, CBHS, Health Partners Ltd and ARHG Funds. Please note that if you are a health fund member you can only claim for the consultation fee through your health fund provider. All herbal medicines and products prescribed will need to be paid for in full.

60 minute initial consultation

An initial 60 minute consultation involves taking thorough case notes of your current symptoms along with your past medical history including any current or past medications, your current diet and lifestyle. Evaluating your situation and prescribing and supplying herbal medicine where appropriate.

30 minute follow up consultation

A 30 minute follow up consultation involves reviewing your symptoms and progress of taking your prescribed herbal medicine. Make any adjustments or changes to the prescription appropriately and replenish herbal medicine or make up new prescription if needed.

Herbal liquids

The herbal liquids that I prescribe are practitioner only products. They are of the highest Australian quality and have gone through rigorous testing and are produced to the highest standard. They have been passed through the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) which is the regulatory body for therapeutic goods which include herbal medicine. Herbal liquids are dispensed in a 200 ml bottle.

Herbal tablets/capsules

The herbal tablets/capsules that I prescribe are practitioner only products. Like the herbal liquids they are of the highest Australian quality and have gone through rigorous testing and are produced to the highest standard. Again they have been passed through the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) which is the regulatory body for therapeutic goods.
